This portrait of a boy from the Suri tribe in Omo Valley is representative of the way McCurry is able to evoke a strong emotional connection to his subjects.
One of the most iconic figures in contemporary photography for over the past thirty years, Steve McCurry has created unforgettable images in six continents and numerous countries. Known for his National Geographic image the Afghan Girl, McCurry’s body of work spans conflict, vanishing cultures, ancient traditions and contemporary cultures alike – yet always retains the human element that makes his images so powerful.
